Congratulations to Linda Hartman and Stephanie Simmons! On September 24, 2014, at the Great Room at Historic Savage Mill, the American Society of Interior Designers Maryland (ASID) held a masquerade ball for its Awards Gala and Annual Meeting. Hartman won second place in the residential category for her Alpha Xi Delta Sorority House transformation, and Simmons won honorable mention in the residential category for her Rustic Elegance Farmhouse project. Karen Renee Interior Design recently installed a model home for Koch Homes in Gibson’s Grant in Kent Island, Maryland. The home has a fresh and clean vibe, styled in what we call Contemporary Coastal. The merchandising is appointed with the goal of appealing to a younger family and has been well received since its opening September 27.

What’s hot in home design right now? Just back from the Furniture Market in North Carolina, we’ve noticed a resurgence of reclaimed wood designs, a style that has been around for some time but only seems to be getting more popular.

Also on trend: Table tops are being done in metals (such as copper and zinc) and stone with wood, and tomato reds, peacock, and greens are being paired with gold for a rich and beautiful display of color.
